Look at the size of that web! After some days of not caring what her web looks like, our spider has spun a neat and huge web - looks like the new mother is hungry, or she's preparing for more. They can produce up to 4 egg sacs.
isn't this the st.simon's cross spider which spins that perfect looking web? i've seen tons of them in Oz but very few here. very difficult to photgraph the web! am enjoying reading about your travels.
Priya, here we call these the Black and Yellow Writing Spider (how unimaginative!). Looks like they have a different name in Australia, but their scientific name's Argiope aurantia. Lovely spiders - I have this large web outside our house which I will not remove - I want to see the whole life cycle of my girl! :)
